Asian/Pacific American Trojans Celebrate Tradition and Achievement

At the USC Asian Pacific Alumni Association’s (APAA) 2013 Scholarship and Awards Gala, the university bestowed the President’s Award to alumnus Wilfred “Fred” Uytengsu, Jr. Uytengsu is the president and CEO of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC), the leading dairy products company in the Philippines. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the USC Marshall School of Business in 1983. While a student, he was a walk-on during swim team tryouts, and eventually earned a place as captain of the team by his senior year. Uytengu recently generously made an $8 million gift to fund the new Uytengsu Aquatics Center, part of the Campaign for USC.
His wife, Kerri Dunn Uytengsu ’84, children, and his former swim coach, Peter Daland, were in attendance for the award ceremony. The APAA also recognized the contributions of Bryan Min ’86, Harun Hajadi ’88, and Junita Ciputra ’88 with the Leadership Award; and Jennifer Lum ’82 and Tae-Hyun Oh ME ’83, EdD ’91 with the Service Award.
