A message from President Folt about the SCOTUS Roe vs. Wade ruling

There it is. One day after celebrating the 50th anniversary of Title IX’s protections against discrimination based on sex, the court has now taken away nearly 50 years of constitutional protection of a woman’s right to choose.

Well over half of American women have never lived without these basic protections.

In California, women will retain choice over the most private, personal, difficult decision of their lives, but that will not be true in many other states.

When women’s reproductive rights are not protected federally, it can lead to harmful disparities that impact women’s health and wellbeing.

As a leading educational institution with a major healthcare system, we must continue to champion safe access to women’s reproductive healthcare through our advocacy, research and medical enterprise.
